For understanding of CaF₂ Growth Modes it is important to analyze the distribution of CaF₂ island aspect ratios from STM images. A customized image processing program is very helpful in this case, since hundreds of images have to be analyzed.

The program automatically locates and labels all the islands in the image. PCA is performed for each island to determine its major axes, length, width and aspect ratio. Aspect Ratio distribution calculated for the images. For color coding distribution rebinned into 4 classes.
